PROJECT 1 Stage Makeup II

PROJECT 1

Stage Makeup II

Dodger is a member of the Anipowered Nation’s Air Force due to her natural ability to fly. On a routine mission Dodger is forced to descend lower into the trees and finds herself knocked to the ground after an impact with a branch or two (or ten). Thanks to her family’s feline/reptilian hybridization, she is able to recover quickly with her speedy healing abilities. Now to find her way back home.

Because my character is a feline/reptile hybrid, I have given her the facial features of a cat with the skin of a lizard. These features will be created using an original latex appliance and an original hair appliance. This appearance includes hidden eyebrows due to the lack of fur on lizards and is altered by the gash found on her mouth from her crash. With the crash, a few whiskers have been ripped from her face, leaving even more blood trails down her cheeks. The face is swollen and bruised, leaving splotches of purple across her otherwise green scales.

To begin my project I made multiple line drawings detailing the different elevations of the makeup look.

With these drawings I then sculpted out the model for my nose appliance.

Using this model I applied layers of liquid latex to form the appliance. When I removed the appliance from the model, I then inserted cotton balls into the hollowed parts of the appliance to give the appliance structure.

I used the appliance to trace out the correct size of netting for my hair appliance. Then I applied small lines of latex to the netting to attach hair.

For an additional wound I created a simple cotton ball based appliance.

In addition to creating these appliances I swatched multiple options of scales.

I did an initial run of the makeup look and found a few problem areas where I could improve.

For a second run through I trimmed down the hair appliance.

Learning from my mistakes I did a second run through and felt it was more successful than the first.
