Stage Makeup Project 4

Stage Makeup Project 4

Inspired by the painting Men Are Square by Gerrit Albertus Beneker, my character has become his job. With smoke erupting from his clothes and steel running through his blood, his face replicates the appearance of molten steel crusting over. This design will use original latex appliances to provide a raised texture to the hardening steel and the water base makeup palette to create a glowing, cracked face with a nearly indistinguishable human features.

I'm a bad artist and completely forgot to take process shots of my appliances, so we can go straight into the application process!

First I began by applying my latex appliances to my face.

Once the appliances were on I painted the latex red and then dusted around the outsides with black to blend them into the black on my face.

Then I painted the cracks in the appliance yellow.

Once the yellow dried I dabbed black on top of both the red and yellow to make the colors appear to glow. I also added on an absurd amount of black grease paint to dirty up my face.
